Each school in NSW offers something slightly different depending on the community. Here's what we offer for you.
Student Passport/Rewards Program
Highlands School operates a student rewards program which focusses on positive student behaviour.
Students are recieve raffle tickets on a regular basis for any successful behaviours, and these are drawn once a week at an assembly, giving students recognition for their positive engagement.
They are awarded under the categories of Respect, Responsibility, Safe Learning, Leadership and Resilience. These are frequent and often.
Prizes include things the students have identified as things they have identified as things they want.
It is supported with a Passport recording signatures for regular demonstrations of the behaviours. After every ten signatures a sticker is awarded. When a page of signatures is completed, the Student is awarded a badge.
Badge holders get to go on badge holder only excursions and trips.
With two badges a student is awarded a Silver Badge. A silver badge holder gets to go on all excursions.
When a passport is completed, a Gold Badge is awarded. This entitles the holder to access to all special events and excursions as well as Gold badge holder only excursions.
Canteen
Highlands School provides every student with three meals a day.
Students arrive and are provided with breakfast, and at the same time can order their preferred Lunch.
Morning Tea is also provided.
Uniforms
When students wear a school uniform, they feel included in our school community.
Highlands School provides all students with the school uniform at no cost.
Students, teachers, parents and carers, as well as members of our local community helped develop our school uniform to make sure it:
meets the requirements of occupational health and safety, anti-discrimination and equal opportunity legislation
includes items that are affordable, comfortable and made from easy-care and easy-wear fabrics
is appropriate for the full range of school activities
is suitable for all body shapes.
